Ever lost on the pavements of Hogwarts, full of fascination and diversity? Ever lost on the pavements of tradition? Ever touched the walls of history? If yes? then I’m sure you are a Ravian.
The person who is been to the great fictional building. The Hogwarts!
I remember when I used to pass the New Hostel’s building as a kid. My baba jaan always said ‘Ye government college he jaye gi’ (she is going to attend the Government College) and I was so enthusiastic about it because it really looks like my dream world “Hogwarts”.
There are two kinds of people, one who is into math and the other who is into English and I was an English one. I write poetries, I write prompts you can say that I can create but actually English wasn’t for me as a subject. So when I failed my math in Intermediate, I lost my all hope for this dream of my father but still, I applied for English literature and Persian literature as a safe side (what we all do) and I got admission in Persian. As I said that English was never for me as a major degree. Anyhow, I started my university and the dream begins.
The place you will never forget. The walls you want to touch a thousand times not to feel the texture but to feel the history. The walls speak for the existential truth of this place. One day when you sit in the Persian department stairs you will notice that there are small tags on the wall, telling you about some old times and you are going to wonder “yaar this place has so much heritage” and the next time when it will be raining and you’d be standing in front of the library door, you will notice that the water is draining down from the top of the Main building and you are going to notice this for the first time and wonder “ oye look! the water is pouring out of the lion’s mouth, this place is literally magic”
The first day you will never forget. When the seniors come running to you holding the Gazette (the digest) and telling you that you need to buy it for rupees 100 (It costs zero) and this is necessary for every newbie and later you will know that this was ragging.
The place you will never forget. When you enter the Central Library for the very first time and realize this building is not Hogwarts from the outside only and the soon books will start talking to you, the fans are hanging with such long rode and when its summer and Ramadan, you will realize that this is the only place you can hide yourself from heat. This is heaven on earth.
The love garden you will never forget. When you go there and realize, What is this place? Is this the place where love birds come? This is not even romantic but this place will always work on celebrating your friend’s birthday.
The auditorium. Oh, the Auditorium! You are never ever going to forget this place when you see the big hall with the red curtains and the 3 beautiful chairs on the stage. What you are going to think is ( now they are going to call me, put over the hat on my head and will tell me whether if I’m Gryffindor or not). As you walk around you are just waiting for that Allama Iqbal’s picture to talk to you. Lol
Who can forget the stairs of the Geography department? The big steps, the big grille, the Salam hall’s close door. This place is telling you that I belong to another universe. The silence, the big spider’s web, and the dust. I am not saying that this place holds sadness. NO! this place is peaceful
There are stairs near Bukhari auditorium that will take you to the place, where you will feel like 90s world. The man you are going to see first will definitely not attract you first but slowly you are going to fall for his personality. The smoke from his cigarette and the cup of tea. All the NAMS member know who I’m talking about. Yeah, you got me! That person can scold the sh*t out of you. The whole different place!
The Gothic lady in summers is beautiful but what winter brings to it is something different. When you are sitting on the stairs of the English Department and you are watching and you are watching the Ravians in the Amphitheater. The light turning into the dark, the intensity of cold freezing your cheeks. The light coming out of the globe and the fog dimming the spark of this light. This is too beautiful to put into the words. This will literally make the writer alive inside of you.
The bridge to Bangla campus is beautiful. This is actually our Science block but calling it Bangla campus is beautiful.
Once a year you will see the rainbow colors everywhere. You will meet the flood of Inter Ravians, full of happiness, full of rainbow colors and full of life. Yeah, this is there last day as Inter Ravian in GCU. This will make you happy from inside, no matter if you are playing with colors or not.
The people around the world don’t know that we have Hogwarts in Pakistan. Where you meet the Hogwarts in reality. More than Hogwarts. Full of magic, Full of history and Full of memories.
You won’t ever forget the long way from Bangla campus to the Computer Science department. The beauty of Oval ground. The big clock’s bell inside this Gothic lady telling you the time. The inter café’s sandwich.
Government college is not only a magical place but this place will really make you something and if it is not giving you anything, it is still giving you the title of The Proud Ravian
I gave the credits to whatever picture I used here
